On humility in education

Turková Kristýna: “I am Hermione with a time turner.” “As an au pair I took care of children from a Montessori school. They loved to learn and I found it incredible.” “Even at 3 years old, some children are unmanageable, excited and impossible to get along with.” “I didn’t want a primary or elementary course.” “Age 6-12 is about learning to think.” “The job is also to develop kindness.” “The job of parents is to constantly seek love and truth.”

I chatted with Christina about her Montessori journey, starting the school at age 25, and leading it to the present. It takes 14 years of one’s life to become an AMI trained trainer. What led Christina into such a demanding training? Why did she choose 6-12 as her favorite age group? How can at-home parents encourage independent thinking in their children?

Kristýna Turková. She is one of the few people in the Czech Republic, if not the only one, who has completed all AMI trainings for age groups 3-6 in Munich with Maria Roth, 0-3 in Denver with Judi Orion and 6-12 in Prague with Kay Baker. She also has an introductory course for ages 12-18 and training for Montessori school leaders. She founded the Montessori Campus in České Budějovice 14 years ago, the school she leads. Kristýna is an open and very humble being with positive energy. This is probably why AMI chose her as their future trainer for ages 6-12. Christine is a mother of 3 children whom she raises in accordance with Montessori ideas.
