Elementary School 6 - 12 years

CHILDREN OF THIS AGE ASK A MILLION QUESTIONS. WE DO NOT GIVE THEM READY-MADE ANSWERS, BUT WE CREATE A SPACE FOR THEM TO FIND THEM THEMSELVES.

I am interested to know why

Children explore the world even beyond the borders of the classroom and they learn to look at it in context. They go out to explore the city and nature alike. They learn to objectively assess their own work. When working, they are free to choose the pace that suits them, and they develop based upon their inner motivation. “To want” is the basis of success.

OUR SCHOOL ROUTINE

8:00 AM THE SCHOOL DAY STARTS
8:00 TO 8:15 CHILDREN COME TO SCHOOL
FROM 8:15 CHILDREN START THEIR FIRST THREE-HOUR WORK CYCLE. THAT IS WHY IT IS IMPORTANT FOR THEM TO BE IN THE CLASSROOM BY 8:15, READY TO WORK.
8:15 - 3:00 PM THE MORNING WORK CYCLE, THAT INCLUDES SNACK AS WELL, IS FOLLOWED BY LUNCH, OUTDOOR STAY AND THE AFTERNOON BLOCK OF ACTIVITIES. SNACKS AND REST FOLLOW THE CHILDREN’S NEEDS.
3:00 PM CHILDREN CAN BE PICKED UP OR CONTINUE TO THE AFTERNOON CLUB

What else will the children experience?

AFTER SCHOOL CARE

The afterschool program comprises the second Montessori work cycle. It includes work with the Montessori materials, arts, music and sports, as well as outdoor stay. Parents can pick up their children at 3 pm or anytime between 4:30 and 5:00 pm.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

The Andílek Atelier, where children can attend extracurricular activities in the afternoon, is located in the school building. Information about the program can be found on the web of our partner organization here. The extracurricular activities are not included in the tuition.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Every week, the children go to the gym of the Sokol Košíře Sports Club in the Klamovka Park. We also organize swimming, and in the winter skating lessons.

OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES

Concentration while working in the classroom must be compensated by sufficient stay in the fresh air. That is why children go out every day to the yard, to the nearby park, sports field or for walks. We also organize frequent nature trips. Excursions outdoors are skipped only if the weather is not favorable.

CHOIR

Once a week, children have a choir, led by Vítězslav Janda from the Andílek Studio. Children practice intonation and signing. They learn to control their voice, notes and new compositions. They sing individually and in groups.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE

English is taught by Czech pedagogues and English-speaking pedagogues. Children practice vocabulary, phrases and communication in everyday situations and several times a week in conversational blocks. They discuss the relevant thematic units within the curriculum subjects and other activities.

WORKSHOPS

Children learn to work safely with tools in workshops which they attend in smaller groups. They work most often with wood. Gradually they see that a saw, hammer, screwdriver or sandpaper are no more dangerous than scissors, a stapler or glue.

MEALS

The meals are delivered by the company Česká jídelna, which focuses on healthy as well as tasty food. Parents can choose from two meal options and order the meal of their choice via an order form directly with Česká jídelna.

ONE-OFF EVENTS

Children go out to explore, they plan trips and excursions. They go to theater, museums, libraries and other institutions, they regularly visit an archeological park. We support their relationship to nature and history and strive to show them the richness of the world around us.

SCHOOL IN NATURE

Children go regularly once a year for a week-long study stay in nature.

CURRICULUM

We deepen an already enkindled desire for knowledge and love for learning. In our school, your child will continually develop, learn new skills and competencies and discover new ideas.

The Montessori curriculum for elementary is built upon the interconnectedness of the entire world and the connections of life in nature, in society and in the whole universe. Instead of lecturing and repeating facts and “pouring” information into children, our teachers sow the seeds of imagination and interest in the children, thus leading them to do their own exploration, self-study and acquisition of extensive academic knowledge. Children continue to follow their own intellectual curiosity and work at their own pace, while reaching the mandatory outputs of learning prior to the general dates set for all children in the Czech educational system. Exploring the world around through the lens of the Montessori method, they go beyond the mandatory school curriculum.
